NAPWHA regularly runs media campaigns to inform people living with HIV across Australia about the latest developments in treatment options. Three most notable and recent campaigns were 'Start the Conversation', 'The Wait is Over' and 'Good Quality of Life'.
'Start the Conversation' was developed in response to new scientific understandings of the benefits of HIV treatments for PLHIV and their partners. The campaign was launched in 2012 by the Australian of the Year award recipient Ita Buttrose and the President of the Australasian Society of HIV Medicine (ASHM), Professor Edwina Wright.
'The Wait is Over' campaign followed successful lobbying by NAPWHA and others for the removal of certain restrictions that were preventing some people from starting HIV treatment.
'Good Quality of Life' was a peer-based campaign rolled out nationally across various platforms. It featured a diverse group of positive people talking about where HIV fits in to the broader picture of their overall health and wellbeing.
