Using Valentine’s Day as a backdrop, Love Positive Women is an annual global call to action for individuals and communities to engage in public and private acts of love and caring for women living with HIV.
Participants are encouraged to create an event for one or a thousand and, using Facebook, publicly declare how they will love positive women on 14 February. Suggested ideas include: taking a bubble bath, hosting a tea party, getting a haircut, kissing your lover, writing a love letter.
The organisation behind the initiative is the International Community of Women Living with HIV (ICW). In operation for more than 20 years, ICW is a global network of 15,000 members brought together by a shared experience of living with HIV. ICW is committed to addressing the multiple oppressions experienced by WLHIV across the globe such as violations of sexual and reproductive rights, discrimination, criminalisation and domestic violence.
