EPIC NSW stands for Expanded PrEP Implementation in Communities in NSW. The aim of the trial is to assess the impact of PrEP on people at high risk of acquiring HIV — such as gay men whose condom use is inconsistent, or couples in serodiscordant relationships (poz-neg).

The trial will enrol 3,700 people — the majority of whom will be gay and bisexual men. Eligibility for the trial will be determined on the basis of HIV risk criteria; participants will then be studied for two years.
